In the Winter of 2009, the governor of the State of Washington, Christine Gregoire, declared that a bored tunnel was to be built under the city of Seattle, drastically changing the future of the waterfront. This web site was started by Puget Sound Magazine (now Salish Sea Tourism) upon public interest in an artical titled "FACE OF SEATTLE: Is it Time for Her to Lose the Braces?" that was published in 2007. The article portrayed an alternative concept for a major traffic corridor through the city. After years of studies, the governor had two choices on the table (a replacement of the aging viaduct with a bigger elevated roadway, or an expansion of surface streets along Alaskan Way. She chose neither. It is our pleasure to announce that the Governor's decision will help make our vision of connecting the people of Seattle with Puget Sound closer to a reality.
